Our School day runs from Monday to Friday from 8:50am to 3:40pm. To fuel children throughout the day, a morning snack is provided in addition to a two-course lunch. All children take their lunch in the Dining Hall where we encourage positive eating practices and self-service, to prepare them for their secondary education. You can find out more about School Food here.
All children are required to wear a school uniform, which is available to purchase from our uniform provider. We also have an incredibly popular, heavily-reduced second hand uniform shop, run by our Parent’s Association – FOSH. We have both a winter and summer uniform, which is required to be worn alongside our sportswear. On enrolling, our Bursar will provide you with a uniform list and advise you on where certain garments can be purchased.
Life at Saville House School is incredibly busy and vibrant, with all children taking part in engaging and inspiring activities both in and outside the classroom. However, the basis of their learning does take place academically, in the classroom. Our facilities lend themselves well to our style of teaching and each class has their own form room, where the majority of their learning takes place. However, children move around the school to take advantage of our different learning spaces including our Art Studio, Science Lab and Dance Studio. Doing this prepares them for their secondary education, where pupils often move around the school to take their different classes.
On admisson, pupils are placed into one of our School Houses. These are Sherwood, Clumber, Welbeck and Rufford and all have their own Captain (usually a Year 6 student). All pupils have the opportunity to earn points for their house, through their efforts in their academic work and by taking part in events such as Sport's Day. The winning house is then announced at our annual Prize Giving in the Summer Term, which all parents and families are invited to attend. In addition to our School House Captains Key Stage 2 pupils also have the chance to join the School Council, made up of pupils and teachers and Year 6 pupils have the opportunity to be considered for Head Boy and Girl.
At Saville House School we are regulated by The Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted). Our most recent inspection took place on 9-11 July 2019, where we were graded "good" overall. The inspection highlighted strengths in our practice, including the well-planned and broad curriculum, interesting lessons and good outcomes for all pupils.
We want all our parents and families to take an active role in your child's time with us. You'll be invited to our Parent's Evening, where you will be able to spend time with your child's form teacher to discuss their progress and time at school. We also invite our parents to join us at all school open days and events including our annual Prize Giving and Speech Day. If you are looking to get even more involved in School Life you may want to consider joining our Parent's Association - FOSH.
